Lottery Winner in Yadkinville

Yadkin County has a richer resident these days, or at least Larue Helton, a clerk at the Fast Track Exxon station on U. S. 601 in Yadkinville says.

On Friday, Nov. 26 Helton waited on a 'regular customer.' After he purchased a scratch-off ticket, he returned to his car. Helton then noticed him getting out of his car and jumping up and down.

"He asked me to pick a ticket for him," Helton said. "So, I sold him a $10 Jingle Jackpot scratch off ticket. I noticed him jumping and swinging his arms outside, but then he came back inside and told me he'd won $500,000.

"I didn't believe him because we're always joking about winnings," she said. "Then I verified the ticket and sure enough, he had a winning ticket for $500,000. I haven't seen him since."

Helton said the unknown man came in prior to purchasing the winning ticket every Friday. Although she did not know his name, she said he was a nice man.

"I'm very excited for him," Helton said. "It's nice to see someone win big. We have a lot of $50 and $100 winners, and quite a few $500 winners, but nothing like this before. "I hope he enjoys his winnings."
